Recovery
Substance abuse and addiction can be crippling; not only to the person struggling but to the family members it effects. With the prevalence and pervasiveness of drugs and alcohol in the community today, it has become a reality that many young people are suffering from addictions. Eastside Academy seeks to provide an opportunity for students to work toward sobriety in a Christ-centered environment through daily recovery classes, regular drug testing, and a high level of accountability. Our unique approach focuses not only on the student’s physical need to stay drug-free, but also addresses the spiritual and mental health components necessary for long term sobriety. The recovery groups are designed to optimize peer support and provide a place that each student can be honest and receive honest feedback. It also provides an outlet each day for the student to speak freely about the stressors and struggles in their own life and begin to develop healthy coping skills and relationships in the place of substance use.
As God has created each person unique, we feel at Eastside Academy it is important to treat each student as an individual when creating recovery goals and contracts. Therefore, each student works in concert with their personal counselors, parents and the recovery program to set attainable goals and markers of accountability specific to their needs. The program incorporates a team approach that functions as a family; allowing everyone to not only support the student in their path toward sobriety but to also celebrate their successes along the way.
